Dirt Poor Terms of Use

Effective Date: September 11, 2026

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of Dirt Poor, a public ledger of exceptional public-access golf.

Luffed Sail LLC, a Virginia limited liability company, owns and operates Dirt Poor. In these Terms, “Dirt Poor,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Luffed Sail LLC in its operation of the service.

1. Agreement to These Terms

By creating an account or using Dirt Poor, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use authenticated features.

By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, agree to the Terms of Use, and acknowledge the Privacy Policy.

The Privacy Policy explains how Dirt Poor handles information. Acknowledging that policy is not a separate opt-in to marketing or other optional processing.

2. Eligibility

Dirt Poor is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or contribute to Dirt Poor.

You must also be legally able to enter into these Terms. Permission from a parent or guardian does not make a person under 18 eligible to create an account or contribute.

Dirt Poor's initial launch is focused on the United States.

3. Public Access and Accounts

The Dirt Poor public ledger can be browsed without an account. An account is required to submit, edit, or delete a Scout Report and to manage account settings.

When you create an account, you agree to:

You may not impersonate another person or create an account using information you are not authorized to use.

Payments and subscriptions

Dirt Poor is currently free to use. The current app does not process payments, offer an in-app subscription, or sell tee times. Course price evaluations describe golfers' observations; they are not offers to sell or book a round.

4. Public Profiles and Scout Reports

Profiles are public. A Profile includes your Display Name, display initials, Home State, and contribution statistics derived from current Scout Reports.

Display Name is labeled "Name" at signup. It is your chosen public name; you may use your own name or a handle. A legal name is not required or verified.

Your Profile is created with your account and can be publicly available before you complete email confirmation. Public records also include identifiers and creation or update timestamps available through the public data service.

Scout Reports are public contributions to the Dirt Poor ledger. The content of a current Scout Report and its attribution to your Profile may be viewed without signing in.

Do not submit private, confidential, or sensitive personal information about yourself or another person in a Display Name, Field Notes, or other public content.

5. Your Content and the License to Dirt Poor

You retain ownership of original content you submit in a Scout Report.

While that content remains submitted to Dirt Poor, you grant Dirt Poor a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, display, and otherwise use that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, and present the Dirt Poor service and public ledger.

This license allows Dirt Poor to display the Scout Report, attribute it to your public Profile, and use its structured evaluation data in current aggregates, Dirt Poor Scores, Dirt Poor Ranks, and contribution statistics.

The license is not a transfer of ownership. When you permanently delete a Scout Report or your account, Dirt Poor removes the associated current content according to the documented deletion process.

Deletion from the current ledger does not remove copies other people have independently made. Service-provider copies and any justified technical or legal retention are addressed in the Privacy Policy.

You represent that you have the rights needed to submit your content and grant this license.

6. Editing and Deleting Scout Reports

You may edit your current Scout Report. An edit replaces the previous evaluation; the previous version is not part of the current public ledger.

You may permanently delete a Scout Report you own. Deletion removes the report and its contribution to the current Course record. Category averages, Dirt Poor Score, and rank may change. First Scout recognition may disappear and does not transfer. If the report was the final report for a Course, the Course returns to Unscouted.

A deleted Scout Report cannot be restored. You may later submit a new report subject to the product's contribution rules.

7. Account Deletion

You may permanently delete your account through the authenticated Delete Account flow.

Account deletion removes your authentication account, public Profile, and associated Scout Reports. Dirt Poor then recalculates affected public outputs from the contributions that remain. Account deletion cannot be undone.

You may contact support@dirtpoor.org with deletion questions or an account/data request. We may need to verify control of the relevant account before acting on an emailed request.

Deletion removes live account and ledger records; it does not remotely erase messages from recipient mailboxes, copies other people made, or all technical backups and logs. The Privacy Policy explains the applicable retention boundaries. Do not rely on account deletion as an immediate wipe of every previously signed-in device.

8. Course Information and Access

Dirt Poor is an informational and editorial golf application. Course information may be incomplete, unavailable, or change without notice.

Independent publication

Dirt Poor is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the Courses listed in the service or the third-party websites, publications, organizations, or authors cited in Supporting Pedigree. Including a Course or citing a source does not imply a partnership, approval, or endorsement of Dirt Poor by that Course or source.

Supporting Pedigree identifies external rankings, recognitions, or commentary for context. Those sources are separate from Dirt Poor's own scoring methodology. Their information may reflect an earlier publication date or different evaluation criteria and is not a guarantee of current Course quality, operation, or public access. Third-party names, titles, and trademarks belong to their respective owners.

Verify access before visiting

A listing in Dirt Poor is not a representation or guarantee that a Course is currently open, operating, accepting visitors, or still available for public play. Courses may close temporarily or permanently, become private, or change their booking, eligibility, or access requirements. Dirt Poor is not a real-time Course-status or booking service.

Dirt Poor does not guarantee the accuracy or continued availability of changing Course facts, including:

Confirm important details directly with the Course before traveling, paying, booking, or relying on them.

Dirt Poor does not operate Courses and does not guarantee that you can access, book, or play any Course.

Report a closure or access change

If you believe a listed Course has closed, no longer offers public play, or has materially changed its access requirements, please email support@dirtpoor.org. Include the Course name, location, and what you learned; a public source link or the date you confirmed the information is helpful. Do not include private personal information about Course employees or other people.

Dirt Poor reviews correction requests and updates the record when a change is verified. A submitted correction does not itself establish a closure or cause automatic removal. Contact the Course directly to confirm current access before traveling or making arrangements.

9. Dirt Poor Score and Rank

Dirt Poor Score and Dirt Poor Rank are informational and editorial product outputs derived from the documented Dirt Poor methodology and current Scout Reports.

They express the Dirt Poor framework and available community evidence. They are not guarantees of Course quality, value, condition, safety, availability, or suitability for any person.

10. Community Guidelines

Dirt Poor is a shared record of firsthand golf experience. These guidelines apply to public names, Scout Reports, Field Notes, and use of the reporting tools.

Report what you experienced

Submit a Scout Report only for a Course you have played. Give your own assessment. Do not invent a visit, knowingly make false factual claims, coordinate deceptive ratings, or use multiple accounts to manipulate the ledger.

Low ratings and criticism are welcome when they reflect your experience. Disagreeing with another scout's opinion does not make their report false. Distinguish observations from assumptions, and remember that conditions and operations change.

Critique the golf, not the person

Do not threaten, harass, intimidate, or target people with personal attacks. Hateful or discriminatory attacks based on characteristics such as race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability are prohibited. Do not post sexually explicit content, sexual exploitation, or encouragement of violence.

For example, "The round took five hours" describes an experience. Threatening a staff member or attacking another scout does not belong in the ledger.

Protect personal information

Do not post private contact details, home addresses, account credentials, or other sensitive personal information about yourself or someone else. A Course's publicly listed business information is different from an employee's private information. Never include passwords or account-verification links in a report or complaint.

Choose a respectful public name

Your name may be your own name or a handle. A legal name is not required or verified. Do not use a hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, or harassing name. Do not impersonate another person, Course, or Dirt Poor representative or misrepresent your affiliation.

Keep contributions relevant and respect others' rights

Use Field Notes for firsthand observations and useful Course context. Do not post unrelated commentary, spam, repetitive promotions, scams, or content you do not have the right to share. Do not use Dirt Poor for unlawful activity.

Report concerns honestly

Report a harmful name or Field Notes through the relevant reporting option. For a suspected false report, identify the factual claim or fabricated experience and explain your concern. Do not use complaints to retaliate against criticism, coordinate harassment, or submit knowingly false accusations. Several complaints about one incident do not establish several violations.

A personal block is a visibility preference, not a complaint or a finding of misconduct. For help with reporting or enforcement, email support@dirtpoor.org.

Respect the service and enforcement decisions

Do not submit malicious code, access accounts or systems without authorization, overload or compromise the service, or use automated means to scrape or abuse it without written permission. Do not evade a contribution restriction or suspension through another account. To challenge an enforcement decision, email support@dirtpoor.org.

Reasonable public browsing and ordinary use of the product are permitted.

11. Moderation, Suspension, and Termination

Dirt Poor is responsible for moderation under the Community Guidelines above.

Dirt Poor uses automated screening and ongoing human review to address harmful content. This is not a promise of uninterrupted monitoring or around-the-clock human review. Questionable text may be held privately for review. A pending name may appear publicly as "Scout"; pending Field Notes do not by themselves prevent a valid structured evaluation from contributing to the ledger.

You can report a harmful name or Field Notes and separately flag a suspected false report with an explanation. Factual disputes are reviewed by a person. A complaint or disagreement with a rating does not by itself establish a violation or remove a report.

You can block a contributor to hide their reports from your View All Scout Reports lists and unblock them in Settings. This does not change Course Scores, rankings, or other people's access to public contributions. Blocking does not prevent the other person from reading your public contributions.

Moderation may remove prohibited notes, require a name change, restrict contribution, or remove a report after a substantiated violation. Note-only removal and personal blocking do not change the structured ratings. Whole-report removal changes the current ledger and derived scores under the report-deletion rules. You may ask for review of a moderation decision at support@dirtpoor.org.

Dirt Poor may remove content, restrict features, suspend an account, or terminate access when reasonably necessary to:

These measures are proportionate to the circumstances. You can contact support@dirtpoor.org about abusive content, an account concern or a rights issue. Nothing in this section limits your ability to request account deletion or exercise a right that cannot lawfully be limited.

Repeat violations and appeals

Three separate, human-confirmed violations trigger a human review for suspension or termination of contribution access. Dirt Poor decides the action based on severity, circumstances, and the valid violation history. Three violations do not cause automatic account deletion. Serious misconduct may result in immediate suspension or termination without prior warnings.

Automated flags, dismissed complaints, and findings overturned on appeal do not count as confirmed violations. Multiple complaints or enforcement actions concerning the same incident do not count as separate violations.

Termination of contribution access is distinct from deleting an account and its associated data. It does not by itself delete otherwise valid reports or change their weight in Course Scores. Whole-report removal and account deletion follow the separate deletion rules above.

Dirt Poor records the relevant rule, evidence, finding, action and reason for enforcement decisions. Corrections and appeal outcomes are recorded as part of the case history. Necessary records are retained under the Privacy Policy's retention schedule, including applicable active-enforcement, dispute and legal-preservation exceptions. This is not a promise to retain every record permanently.

If action is taken against your contribution or account, Dirt Poor will explain the applicable rule, action, and how to request review without disclosing reporter identities or private evidence. To appeal, email support@dirtpoor.org with the decision reference and your explanation. Never send a password or verification link.

The limited case and resolution history described in the Privacy Policy supports review while an account exists, regardless of recent sign-in activity. Confirmed violations are counted separately from all complaints or cases, and reversals are reflected in the history. Retaining a summary does not mean all underlying evidence is retained indefinitely or that a count automatically determines an enforcement action.

12. Dirt Poor Intellectual Property

Except for user-owned content and third-party material, Dirt Poor owns or licenses the service's software, original editorial material, visual identity, selection and presentation, trademarks, logos, branding, and other protected material.

“Dirt Poor,” “Rich Golf for the Dirt Poor,” and associated branding may not be used in a way that suggests endorsement, affiliation, or ownership without permission.

These Terms do not grant you ownership of Dirt Poor intellectual property.

13. Third-Party Services and Links

Dirt Poor uses third-party services for authentication, data storage, maps, fonts and account-email delivery. The Privacy Policy identifies the current data recipients. Third-party services have their own terms and privacy practices.

Dirt Poor is not responsible for a third party's independent service, content, availability, or acts. This does not limit any responsibility Dirt Poor cannot lawfully exclude.

14. Service Availability and Changes

Dirt Poor may be interrupted, unavailable, modified, or discontinued. Maintenance, security work, provider outages, technical failures, and product changes may affect access.

We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service. Where practical, we communicate material service changes clearly.

15. Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Dirt Poor is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Dirt Poor does not make warranties about uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or the accuracy and completeness of changing Course information or user-submitted content.

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, consumer protections, or other rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

16. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Dirt Poor and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of or inability to use the service, reliance on changing Course information, or conduct of other users.

Dirt Poor does not limit liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including any liability that applicable law requires to remain available.

17. Changes to These Terms

Dirt Poor may update these Terms as the service changes. The current version displays its effective date and is available wherever these Terms are provided.

We will communicate material changes through channels appropriate to the change and affected users, and provide any additional notice or obtain any consent required by applicable law.
